Tea is the nectar of the Gods.
I have my friends funeral on Friday. I was asked by his sister to write a small reflection to be read on the day. Although words cannot describe the real essence of who he was, this is my closest attempt.
Joshua Karlsen.
From his unyielding friendship, to his determined dedication to God, Josh was more than just a mere man. He was a brother, a son and a friend. He was a smile on dark days. He was a gentle soul during rough times. He was willing to help and serve, no matter the outcome or reward. He was a man full of artistic and academic talent, with a sense of humour that never failed to bring a smile.
Whilst many around were struggling with their Christian walk, Josh was always there as a solid child of God. He was there for advice. He was there to give a helping hand. He was there to answer any question you had about his faith. He was a shining example of strength and devotion. And we can reside in the knowledge that he shall now be sitting with God, safe and at peace.
Although we only had a short time with Josh, the Earth was privileged to have him walk on its surface. And though this is a terrible loss felt by all, we can take solace in the fact that we were special enough to have known him. To laugh with him, to learn from him, and most importantly to love him, and to have him show his enormous love back towards us, his friends and family.
We must not be sad that our time with him is over, rather we must rejoice for all the time we got to spend with him, and the amazing impact that he had on all of our lives.
He was truly a gift from God, an incredible man, and it has been our honour to have known him.
